It may sound weird but look in to getting your CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) is what it is called I believe. It it a 5 wk long course in general and you basically are a nursing assistant after you get it. You help change dressings, beds, and so forth. It pays decently well and you may be able to work on a mental health floor of a hospital. Also you can do work study through your school and make some money. There are many different jobs you can get while in school just because to balance time between both and make sure your school work is very very good. Just look around and you can find lots of people hiring. Talk to your advisor if you have one in college or your counselor in highschool and different job opportunities and how to find them. AND if you get in to medical school I am sure you will be able to be a teachers assistant, research assistant, or may be able to do a fellowship. Also I would go to the APA website and find their book about different careers and make sure psychiatry is what you want to do and not clinical psych or neuropysch or others. Some people mix those up sometimes.
