Successful depression treatment?
Question : Successful depression treatment?
Just looking for stories from anyone who has had or knows someone how has had success treating major depression. Anything you can give me would be great. I am starting lexapro today and I see a psychologist on Monday and looking for some inspirational stories of recovery. Thank you!

I am still looking for it. After of 25 years of major depression, I could live normally 9 months by year, although I could manage to give my children a college education, and they are happily married.

Well I have been depressed all my live I have been raped, verbal abused and been taken advantage by men or boyfriends. I would let them do sexually stuff to me because I couldn’t say no I wanted no I needed to feel loved or like and I would let them do things to me. But only if they where my boyfriend never a total stranger. Then with this boyfriend that I have now we been together now for 4 years.That’s how bad I was but now I take medicine for my depression and other pills and now I’m doing alot better and I can actually feel a little bit happier.

I realized I had major depression several years ago. My doctor tried several different anti depression medications on me. None of them worked that well until he prescribed Wellbutrin a few years ago. It has been a miracle drug for me. It helps me keep my depression under control for the most part. I can tell if I miss a couple of dosages, so I know it is still working.
Wellbutrin has a very pleasant side effect for me also. If you’re interested in knowing what it is, e-mail me.
I also started a diet and exercise program to make me feel better about myself. That has helped too. -

I have suffered from depression (or at least it was finally diagnosed) for 15 years. Some things worked for a while, but eventually I would always fall back into “the black hole”. I was soooo discouraged. However, I finally found a doctor who wouldn’t give up. He worked with me for a year, and I tried every single drug treatment for depression on the market. FINALLY, though, we actually found the right medications, in the right combination. Cymbalta is actually the drug that saved my life. I use it with Wellbutrin and Lamictal. No more mood swings, no more being paralyzed with despair and sadness. It has been life-changing. Wow! Now I know what it feels like to just live life. And I can honestly say, life is good.

Try and be thankful for the simplest things in life that can be the most intricate part of life, Your own body. If you are breathing, eating alone, walking, talking, able to take care of yourself, then there are many things for you to be happy and thankful about. I lost my son to suicide and trust me baby steps and positive thinking with an increase in vitamins for your brain will be your best medicine along with lexapro..stay close with your dr.s and make sure you trust them, then go online and read other info for yourself. I guess to educate your self with your disorder would be the best way to put it….God is with you,
