Even though that is not an answer to your question.
Sorry. :]
1. Do well in High School (I am assuming that’s where you’re at, but I could be wrong) Take electives about psych, child dev., etc.
2. Try to work jobs (or volunteer) throughout high school that pertain to children. Such as daycare, hospitals with children, etc. I don’t think babysit would hold as much weight or credibility,
3. Apply to colleges with the degree you seek. You will major in Psych during undergrad. You could also double major in Psych and possibly education. Have as many of your courses geared toward children as possible.
4. Work your butt off in college so that you can get into a good grad school. Grad school is very competitive and not very easy to get into. Aim for a GPA of AT LEAST 3.5, higher would be better.
5. Seek out internships through college that pertain to child pysch. You can not have enough experience in this when it comes to grad school. You should start ASAP when entering into college.
6. Take your GRE’s in your jr year of undergrad. This way, if you don’t do as well as you’d like to, you will have plenty of time to retake them before you apply to graduate schools.
7. Apply to graduate programs in your senior year of undergrad.
8. Go to graduate school for your PhD. This will take an additional 4-5 years after undergrad.
