psychology degree?

If you are reasonably intelligent it is not anymore difficult than other social sciences. However, psychology is a field that requires graduate degrees to truly be able to find meaningful work in your field. I am about to complete my Ph.D. in psychology. I was able to find work as a counselor and social worker, plus an assistant at a large psychology dept., with a Master’s degree. If you only want a bachelor’s degree, you may be offerred jobs such as assistant to a social worker, residential aides in hospitals or group homes to elderly, mentally ill, runaway teens, etc. It is a versatile degree HOWEVER psychology degrees are not bachelor’s degrees that instantly produce big money, in fact, you will likely be paid only a little more than a non college graduate at first, until you get a Master’s. Many hospitals or institutions do offer tuition assistance for that, however. Graduate degrees are big commitments, they can be completed online these days, though. If you are looking for a degree that pays big right away, I would look elsewhere. I have had many former classmates work for $ 10-14 per hour while working on their Master’s. Many non-college graduates can make that in a large city. So, it depends on your location, your willingness or desire to study for X number of years, and the type of job you want.
