Does anyone know of any mental health facilities in California?
Question : Does anyone know of any mental health facilities in California?
I was just wondering if anyone knows if they do have mental health facilities in this state and if you do know of any please let me know because I’m planing on leaving and just staying in a mental hospital for at least eight months or untill I recover from my mental distress. And I’ve also talked to my counciler about this and she said that there are none. but if anyone has any info please let me know.

Stanford Hospital in the Bay Area has an excellent psychiatric department. I went for outpatient, though I don’t know if they currently have an inpatient program. If you give them a call they’ll be able to tell you, and can refer you elsewhere if their programs aren’t appropriate for you or the distance is prohibitive. I know that in the past ten or fifteen years, many of the adolescent inpatient hospitals have closed; I’m not sure how old you are, so that might or might not be relevant for you. Almost everyone I know who went into the hospital for mental health reasons were being held on 5150s, and the facilities for long-term care might not be the same. However, I am sure that there are definitely places in California, either actual hospitals devoted to mental health care or inpatient psych wards in full-service medical hospitals. Good luck.
